On July 15, 2025, the Romanian Hub for Artificial Intelligence (HRIA) hosted an online strategic workshop titled \u201cThe Potential of Creative AI Resources in Romanian Society: Gradual Implementation of AI Technologies<\/strong>\u201d. The event focused on collaborative planning and analysis of research directions T1\u2013T4 within the HRIA program.<\/p>\n

Bringing together experts from academia and the entrepreneurial sector, the workshop aimed to consolidate proposed initiatives and define concrete steps for developing AI solutions with real-world applicability in Romania. Discussions centered around four major research pillars:<\/p>\n

  • T1: Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence\u00a0<\/strong>
    \nDevelopment of safe, explainable technologies aligned with EU regulations, including domain-specific large language models (LLMs) with bias control and decision transparency.<\/li>\n
  • T2: Intelligent and Autonomous Systems<\/strong>
    \nTechnologies for semantic visual perception, autonomous navigation, human-robot interaction, and intelligent control in aerial, terrestrial, and underwater robotics, with applications in hospitals, public spaces, and industry.<\/li>\n
  • T3: Intelligent Human\u2013Computer Interfaces\u00a0<\/strong>
    \nAdvanced resources for Romanian natural language processing, conversational models, speech synthesis, media content analysis, and integration of computer vision with language for semantic communication between humans and systems.<\/li>\n
  • T4: AI Hardware Technologies<\/strong>
    \nFPGA-based AI solutions for biomedical applications, smart sensor networks, coordination algorithms for robots in hazardous environments, and optimization techniques for efficient deep learning model training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

    The workshop reaffirmed HRIA\u2019s commitment to building a robust infrastructure for research, innovation, and practical AI deployment\u2014driving impact across industry, the economy, and social well-being in Romania.<\/p>\n

    About HRIA<\/strong><\/p>\n

    HRIA is implemented by the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, in partnership with six prestigious Romanian universities and eight innovative SMEs selected through a competitive process. The project aims to harness Romania\u2019s potential in research, development, and innovation (RDI) in AI, contributing to sustainable economic growth and the advancement of an inclusive digital society.<\/p>\n
