Between September 22–25, the city of Timișoara hosted the 27th edition of the international symposium SYNASC – Symbolic and Numeric Algorithms for Scientific Computing, an event dedicated to interdisciplinary research in advanced algorithms, artificial intelligence, and formal methods.
As part of the symposium, Prof. Adina Magda Florea, Director of the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and leader of the HRIA project, delivered an invited talk on the topic: “Explainability in AI-Assisted Medical Diagnosis.”
Her presentation addressed current challenges related to the interpretability of AI models used in medical image analysis, with a focus on:
- Transparency in algorithmic decision-making
- The role of explainability in clinical workflows
- Building trust between AI systems and healthcare professionals
This contribution reaffirms HRIA’s ongoing commitment to developing responsible, explainable, and applicable AI technologies in fields critical to society. In a global context where AI is redefining standards in medicine, education, and industry, such scientific interventions strengthen Romania’s position on the European research map.
