On November 6, 2025, as part of the Romanian Scientific Diaspora 2025 Conference, held in Cluj-Napoca, the Romanian Hub for Artificial Intelligence – HRIA organized the workshop “Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Perspectives” – Artificial Intelligence in the National Research Ecosystem: Contributions from the Romanian AI Hub.
The workshop focused on the projects and initiatives developed within the Romanian Artificial Intelligence Hub and brought together researchers, practitioners and experts from academia and industry.
The main objective of the event was to highlight the role of artificial intelligence in strengthening the national research ecosystem, as well as to showcase how HRIA contributes to the development of advanced solutions aligned with international standards and the needs of Romanian society.
Participants explored key themes shaping the future of the field, including:
- recent developments in AI algorithms and models,
- the applicability of AI in interdisciplinary research,
- ethical and regulatory challenges,
- the integration of AI into national research infrastructures,
- collaboration between the scientific diaspora and the local community,
- HRIA’s role in facilitating knowledge and technology transfer.
The workshop provided an open dialogue platform where concrete projects developed within HRIA were presented, alongside international collaboration initiatives and strategic development directions for the coming years. Through the diversity of participants and perspectives, the event emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach in accelerating technological progress and strengthening Romania’s position within the global AI landscape.
HRIA thus reaffirms its mission to create a convergence space for research, industry, and the international scientific community, actively contributing to the development of a robust, responsible, and innovation‑driven AI ecosystem.
