Between May 26-27, 2026, the Romanian HUB for Artificial Intelligence had a strong presence at the UNESCO Days at Politehnica Bucharest 2026 – Education in the Digital Era, both through a substantial academic contribution and a dedicated exhibition stand.

Prof. Dr. Ștefan Trăușan Matu delivered an extensive and well argued presentation on HRIA, highlighting the conceptual foundations of the initiative and its emerging role in digital education research. His intervention emphasized how Romanian HUB for Artificial Intelligence can become a strategic instrument for analyzing, evaluating, and developing educational ecosystems in the era of advanced technologies. The session also addressed societal responsibility and the ethics of using artificial intelligence in education and society.

Throughout the two day conference, the Romanian HUB for Artificial Intelligence stand attracted numerous participants — university faculty, researchers, students, and institutional representatives — interested in the project’s practical applications and research directions.

The 2026 edition of UNESCO Days at Politehnica Bucharest marks 70 years of Romania’s membership in UNESCO, an anniversary celebrated through the International Conference: Education in the Digital Era, held on 26–27 May in Bucharest.

The event was organized by the POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest and the UNESCO Chair “Engineering for Society,” in partnership with the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO. This year’s theme reflected both UNESCO’s global agenda on transforming education and the mission of the UNESCO Chair to promote education, research, and innovation aligned with societal needs, sustainability, and long term social impact.

During “UNESCO Days at UPB,” workshops and roundtables were held on the application of information and communication technologies in higher education, as well as the implications of digitalization for high tech professions such as air transport. Discussions also explored issues related to societal responsibility and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in education and society.

UNESCO Days at Politehnica Bucharest continue the initiatives of the UNESCO Chair “Engineering for Society,” established in 2017, which consistently promotes UNESCO’s mission on sustainable development, the application of new learning and teaching technologies, and multicultural dialogue through education, science, communication, and information.
